If you love designer bridal fashion and can’t wait to see the latest bridal collections, we have a treat for you today! Our Lovella team and Wedding Fashion Expert just recently returned from New York Bridal Fashion Week and brought back a sneak peek at the Fall/Winter 2025 bridal collections of some of our favorite wedding dress designers.
We are lucky enough to travel to New York City twice a year, in April and October, to attend exclusive runway shows and shop the latest wedding dress collections of the designers that we carry in store at Lovella. It’s important to keep in mind that these collections of dresses will not be available in store for about 6 to 8 months. Bridal stores have to wait for their new inventory dresses, just like brides have to wait on their special order wedding dresses. So if you see a trend featured here that you love, know that these exact dresses are not yet available to try on in stores, but your bridal consultant may be able to find a similar style or equally beautiful gown with the trending details you love.
Let’s get into the top eight wedding dress trends as seen on the runways and showrooms at New York Bridal Fashion Week.
Video: Top 8 Wedding Dress Trends Spotted at New York Bridal Fashion Week
If you are a bride who is getting married in late 2025 or in 2026 (or want to shop early for 2027!) and are shopping for your wedding dress, you won't want to miss our recap featuring the top 8 wedding dress trends spotted at New York Bridal Fashion Week. We're featuring all of the best new wedding dress designs from top bridal designers for their fall and winter 2025 collections.
Trend 1: Drop Waist Wedding Dresses
Bridal designers have been playing with the waistline of their dresses for many seasons but drop waist wedding dresses took a prime spot on the runways this year. We’ve been seeing many designers creating gowns with lower waistlines and this season, extremely drop waist dresses were plentiful.
In past seasons, we’ve seen waistlines dropping down to the hip bones. The new twist on the trend now is designers elongating the bodice even more on their dress designs, creating a drop waist going all the way to the bottom of the hipbones.
One thing to be mindful of when a wedding dress is drop waist, if you are petite in height, sometimes the proportions can be off and make it look like you have a very long torso and very short legs. Be sure to step off the bridal pedestal when trying on this style of dress to see how it looks on you at full height.
Trend 2: Basque Waist Wedding Dresses
Basque waist dresses have been trending in past seasons and is a style that is here to stay. A Basque waist wedding dress is similar to a drop waist dress, where the waist line is dipping down further than the natural waist. A Basque waistline will narrow in towards the hips in a v shape helping to elongate the torso.
A new design element this season to Basque waist dresses is having a removable corset element. This is a great option for brides who want to change their wedding day look without having to buy or change into a second dress. You can just remove the outer layer and still have the Basque waist style without the extra corset layer.
Trend 3: Floral Detail Wedding Dresses
The next trend we saw in the newest bridal collections is one that will likely never go away. Floral is always in in the bridal world. This season is bringing extremely bold, big floral detail. A lot of fabric manipulation and textures with appliqués.
We also saw smaller floral details, in really intense floral designs. So if oversized floral details is not your style, you may prefer a dress with these smaller appliqués for a really romantic and feminine bridal style.
Trend 4: Bridal Mini Dresses
This next trend is another that has been very strong for the past few years and that is bridal mini dresses. Every designer show we went to had bridal mini dresses included in their collections and we love that designers are expanding their collections to include the entire wedding weekend. We love a mini dress for a reception outfit or wedding after party and even all the pre-wedding events like a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner.
Trend 5: Pearl Wedding Dresses
The next trend we saw is one that may be a bit controversial. There is a popular superstition that pearls are bad luck for weddings, but that has not stopped many bridal designers from including them in their latest wedding dress collections. We saw many wedding dresses with pearl embellishments and pearl beading details for an extra feminine touch.
Trend 6: Wedding Dresses with Slits
Another trend that we saw across designers is wedding dresses with slits. This design element is another trend that has been growing stronger over the last few seasons and does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. We love the drama a slit offers to a wedding dress for a fun shoe moment and a bit of a sexy leg peek.
If a slit is not your style, or you feel a particular slit is too high for your personal preference, keep in mind that a seamstress can close the slit part way or sew it all the way shut in the alterations process to suit your tastes and comfort. Don’t say no to a dress you love just because of a slit.
Trend 7: Draped Fabric Wedding Dresses
Trend number 7 that we saw across designers at New York Bridal Fashion week is wedding dresses with draped fabric. Designers were manipulating fabrics in very interesting ways. Think pleating, ruching, romantic draping on both the front of many wedding dress designs and on the back of dresses too. Many of these dresses gave off timeless vibes with a modern flare so perfect for brides who want to feel classic but contemporary as well.
Trend 8: High Neckline Wedding Dresses
The last trend we are highlighting from New York Bridal Fashion week is wedding dresses with high necklines. From high boat necklines to full halter necklines, designers were getting creative in their styles. We often have requests from brides shopping with us at Lovella for halter or high neckline wedding dresses and in the past we have not had many options in store so we are excited to see more dresses with high necklines coming into fashion.
