If you are a bride who has been wedding dress shopping multiple times and are having trouble making a decision on which bridal dress to purchase, be sure to watch our latest advice video geared towards confused brides where we share all our tips for knowing when to stop wedding dress shopping.

Decision Making

At Lovella, we have brides who shop with us all the time and share that they are waiting for that emotional moment when they know the dress is “the one”. This just does not happen for all brides so don’t think that’s the only way to make a decision about what dress you will wear down the aisle. If you are not a very emotional person in day-to-day life, you will most likely not have an emotional moment and cry over your wedding dress. Maybe you will, but waiting for the tears or some kind of jolt that says “this is my dress” should not be the only deciding factor in what to wear on your wedding day.

If you are a more logical thinker and make decisions very rationally, then you will likely make your wedding dress decision in the same way. You likely aren’t going to have an emotional moment over your wedding dress if you don’t get emotional making other decisions.

Take A Break

If you have been shopping for your wedding dress for months and months, you might be feeling overwhelmed. Visiting store after store and trying on too many wedding dresses can lead to stress if you are unable to make a decision. If you find yourself in this situation, you probably feel like you are not making any progress. Maybe you just love all the dresses and feel beautiful in many different dresses, but you aren’t feeling that gut instinct moment that you’ve found the right dress to wear on your wedding day.

When you end up in the situation of trying on too many wedding dresses and visiting numerous bridal stores, you are going to be stuck in analysis paralysis and will just be left feeling confused. The more dresses you try on, the more confused you can get. You won’t be able to remember what dresses you tried on a store, or which dresses you felt the most confident wearing. When this happens, the best thing to do is to take a break. Stop shopping, stop looking online, stop looking at the photos on your phone.

Get Into Action

Take a few weeks or a couple of months even and let your mind reset a bit. Don’t think about wedding dresses or look for new styles online.

Then, go back to the bridal store and the bridal consultant that you had the best connection with. Buy a dress that you love at that moment, based on the way you feel when you look in the mirror and when you look at photos.

Pick the dress you feel most beautiful and confident in on that day and then be done with it. Don’t think about the decision again because you want to pick the dress that makes you feel the most beautiful and confident because that feeling will carry through on your wedding day.

Streamline Your Shopping

One of our best pieces of advice for brides who are just starting to shop for their wedding dress is to streamline their shopping experience. Pick a maximum of three bridal stores and stick to it. Do your research and choose three stores that match your aesthetic and have the inventory you are interested in.

You want to be excited to visit these stores and know they are going to have dresses you will love. If you are in the position of being confused on which dress to buy, go back to the stores you have already visited. Don’t add another location to your list of dresses you’ve already tried on.

Remember that when it comes to wedding dress shopping, it really is about quality and not quantity. You want to narrow in on the stores that offer the dresses and designers you like so you have a better chance at finding your dress in just one or two visits. The more you see, the more confusing it can get to make a final decision.

If you find that you are being swayed by external opinions, plan a separate shopping trip where you can visit the bridal store you liked the best and try on dresses again without the outside distractions. The only opinion that truly matters is your own so don’t let your guests change your mind or lead you to a dress that you don’t completely love. You need to make the decision while you are in the dress, taking into account how being in the dress makes you feel, and not just how the dress looks in photos or how it looks to another person.
