As Lovella Bridal launches from the rich history of Jobyna’s Bridal, we have taken the time to remember the best and most inspiring from each of our four decades. We now pay homage to the 1980s by sharing images of bridal trends and fashion styles of the decade.
Princess Diana and Prince Charles:
Gown: Made of pure silk taffeta with puffy sleeves with a 25 foot train. At age twenty Diana became The Princess of Wales when she married Charles on July 39, 1981 at St Paul’s Cathedral, which offered more seating than Westminster Abbey, generally used for royal nuptials.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson:
Wed on July 23, 1986 Prince Andrew marries Sarah Ferguson, becoming the Duke and Duchess of York. Wedding gown designed by Lindka Cierach.
Elton John and Renate Blauel:
They wed on (Valentine’s day) February 14, 1984 at St. Mark’s Church in Sydney Australia just four days after he proposed to her in a restaurant. A second service was held for John’s family members in London a few days later. Look at those sleeves!
We love the detail of Renate Blauel gown. It is truly a work of art.
