LB: Your newest collection is, of course, uber feminine and fabulous! This time around what influenced your designs and all the special details in your fresh creations?
INES: Please see press release [below]:
“Every bride wants to feel like a star on her wedding day. She wants to make an entrance. She wants to walk down the aisle and captivate her audience. For her Spring/Summer 2012 collection, Ines Di Santo was inspired by some of the most fashionable celebrities to hit the red carpet. Ines envisioned her dream designs for recent celebrity newlyweds and brides-to-be and brought those dreams to the runway.
With each gown as unique as the personalities they were inspired by, Ines’ latest collection ranges from modern glamour to classic elegance. Applying today’s trends along with her signature touches, Ines adds embellishment to luxurious fabrics and delicate treatments like pleating and ruching to dramatic silhouettes.
With a level of style befitting the red carpet, runway or aisle, Ines’ Spring/Summer 2012 collection is award-worthy.”
LB: We know that you designed your daughter Veronica’s bridal gown. What other custom-made dresses have brought you such pleasure?
INES: Every bridal gown I create brings me such pleasure, as if I was designing a gown for my own daughter. (Though) I cannot say any other custom-made gown has brought me as much pleasure as designing my daughter Veronica’s bridal gown. I was so excited to design (it) that I designed three gowns for her to wear on her special day!
LB: If you could custom-design a dress for any celebrity to wear on the red carpet, who would it be?
INES: Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie.
LB: Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
INES: Everywhere! Art, culture, music, people, textiles, architecture, gardens, ART IS EVERYWHERE if you look for it. If your eye is trained to see it, you will notice a design in a simple raindrop.
LB: It seems as if you’ve been all over the world. What city or country most inspires you?
INES: Every city is an inspiration to me. Each city has their own particular architecture and design, which inspirers me with each collection.
LB: We know you’re an extremely busy woman, but – when you have time, what are the things you love to do?
INES: Family is the most important thing in my life. When I am with my family I am relaxed and very happy and at peace.
LB: What are your style tips or advice for brides-to-be?
INES: Be yourself! Choose designs or looks that are an extension of your personality, not something that makes you feel like you are playing dress up. You want to look like you.
LB: Do you have a favorite quote or saying, or something you try to live by?
INES: The sun is for everyone. A life without couture is like the sun never coming up!
