Red, White & Blue Wedding Inspiration (with a vintage twist)

Summer’s in full swing, and what says “summer” more than the Fourth of July? Across blogs and websites, there’s no shortage of patriotic wedding and entertaining ideas. However, much of the inspiration involves a classic touch or vintage twist. Either that’s the trend now in general, antiques and vintage, or simply a throwback with good ol’ Americana. Either way, we’re sold! Enjoy the inspiration in faded red, white and blue. May your Fourth be full of festivities and fun, but also incredible pride in our country, its storied past, and ultimately our independence as a country. Fabulous To-Know: Lady Cameo

cam·e·o (n): A piece of jewelry, typically oval in shape, consisting of a portrait in profile carved in relief on a background of a different color. Often this piece is a family heirloom, passed down from mother to daughter perhaps various times, for various occasions. So what’s behind this lady cameo? A cameo, resulting from a commissioned portrait, was a prized possession for many a Victorian woman. However, “another kind of portrait appeared with an anonymous woman” this site states. Cameo designers soon introduced the cameo habillé (dressed), which “depicts the portrait of an idealized woman adorned with jewelry. This type of cameo has found great popularity and continues to be produced in the present day.” The lady cameo’s not only being incorporated into weddings via jewelry, but it’s gracing […]

Heavenly Couture Confections

It’s true, we’re a bit couture crazy over here. We love (and sell) couture bridal gowns, and we appreciate gorgeously-designed cakes and cupcakes. We also love any confections – cookies, French macarons, cake pops, chocolates or tarts – that are so finely-crafted that to call them anything but couture would be a crime. However, admittedly, sometimes all it takes is a clean, chic look, or one simple fabulous embellishment plucked on top, to make a sweet delight “couture” in our book. Our advice? Display accordingly! Couture Cupcakes

Couture: (adjective) being, having or suggesting the style, quality, etc., of a fashion designer; very fashionable: the couture look. With our Couture Cakes post serving as inspiration, today we have some fashionable cupcakes for your pretty eyes. A couture cupcake doesn’t necessarily have to involve a deep level of intricacy in its design, but it does have to entail that extra special touch. Sometimes all it takes is a flourish at the top, or an unexpected texture, to elevate a cupcake to a whole new fashionable level. Enjoy the eye candy below, brought to you by The Caketress, Cotton and Crumbs and more.     Photo Credits: 1 Corina V. Lovella Loves…

This alluring antique gold candelabra-turned-cupcake stand, seen here. We could see this stand incorporated into a tablescape, as an accompaniment to a wedding cake or sweets display, or  a cluster of them as a cupcake arrangement at a bridal shower or spring soiree. Enjoy!
