How this bride, in photos by Edyta Szyszlo Photography, literally let her hair down for the reception. This bride’s look was transformed simply with the change of hairstyle. She wore a formal chignon updo for the ceremony, only to let it partially loose for photos and the reception. Not every bride has the luxury (or budget) of having two wedding dresses for her big day: a knock-out dress for the wedding ceremony and a more dance-worthy frock for the reception. For brides on a budget: Maybe the secret isn’t to buying more, but transforming what you have.
She may be the most admired woman in the world. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (or Kate Middleton, as so many people still call her), has made many appearances and visits under the watchful eye of photographers all over the world. While it’s hard not to admire her wardrobe of designer apparel, her carefully-coifed hair is often the highlight of an appearance. Catherine’s hair stylist, Rosanno Ferretti, revealed recently that the secret product behind the Duchess’ tresses is Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil. While a 5 oz. bottle costs $69, it may be worth the splurge for a bride (and her ‘maids) on her big day. Here we share some of our favorite bridal-worthy looks from Catherine; many of our picks are of her now-signature semi-chignon (replicate her look here). We couldn’t be more pleased with how these images turned out! The model, Kaitlin, oozed glamour in an Ines Di Santo gown from our salon. Nicoletta Daskalakis was the brains behind this pared-down shoot. Pared down, as in nature and (urban) landscape paired with high voltage wedding appeal. No props, no tricks with the camera; just pure bridal goodness. And that makeup, so warm and sultry, and hair, sleek and chic – a perfect partnership to accompany that beautiful gown. Enjoy the images. ♥ Credits: Photography: Beauty and Photography / Location: Glendale, CA / Wedding Dress: Ines Di Santo, from Lovella Bridal / Hair & Makeup: Nicoletta Daskalakis /Accessories: Brides and Hairpins.
One of our favorite bridal market beauty looks came from the runway of Ines Di Santo. Damali NYC created a classic look befitting of almost any bride. Regarding makeup, Bridal Guide noted, “The emphasis was placed on bold, matte brows and lips, with fresh, clean skin.” In fact, we’re taking some of the guess work out of the makeup products used; below are products to check out in order to achieve a similar look. Bobbi Brown lipstick, Chanel highlighter, and Josie Maran concealer were all listed as items used. The hair hearkened back to retro appeal, as well. The lead hairstylist of Damali NYC was tasked with creating a “modern yet elegant hairstyle that is a little retro, but still soft and pretty.” And of course, everything was topped off with Maria Elena Headpieces hair accessories – surely the cherry on top! With this post, we wrap up our coverage […]
