It’s summer, that blissful time of year that equals beach excursions and balmy nights, bountiful florals, fresh fruit and colorful cocktails. In all that, punchy hues of pinks, reds and oranges met with vibrant blues, purples and the like. Things are lighter and airy in summer; spirits are high and happy. This season is fresh and refreshing. Enjoy the inspiration; welcome to a new season! mono·chro·mat·ic (adj.): having or consisting of one color or hue/consisting of radiation of a single wavelength or of a very small range of wavelengths. (source) Though a veritable color palette can be fabulous for weddings, often times we crave one color and/or a variation of hues. One of the best examples of monochromatic decor may be with white, with shades of ivory, cream, and ecru, and maybe even a touch of yellow. Now that’s chic! Below we have inspiration in a multitude of colors, from green and purple to pink and red. Do enjoy! Everybody has had a love affair with green. It’s among the most soothing of colors, and is certainly appropriate for a springtime wedding. We’re in love, especially with a crisp mint green, and are celebrating the official arrival of spring a couple days early. Enjoy the inspiration below; we hope we’ve struck a nice balance between a soft mint to a less-subtle hue. After obsessing over metallic cakes we officially fell in love with gold. What’s great about gold, other than its obvious regality, is that it knows no season. In warmer months it plays costar to potent colors like plum or navy but emerges a star in fall and winter weddings. Today we’re celebrating all hues of the color. From glistening confections and luscious linens to sparkling makeup and dazzling accessories, gold knows no boundaries. For added flare we love an unexpected hit of it, like on pillows as decor, flatware at the table or sequins on a cake for whatever the occasion may be. Enjoy the inspiration! These fashion-inspired cakes straight out of the pages of the Fall 2011 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. The article states, “On these pages, desserts get adorned with fabulous flounces, beautiful beading, and more.” In fact, these cakes are almost too gorgeous to eat! Enjoy.
