Heavenly Couture Confections

It’s true, we’re a bit couture crazy over here. We love (and sell) couture bridal gowns, and we appreciate gorgeously-designed cakes and cupcakes. We also love any confections – cookies, French macarons, cake pops, chocolates or tarts – that are so finely-crafted that to call them anything but couture would be a crime. However, admittedly, sometimes all it takes is a clean, chic look, or one simple fabulous embellishment plucked on top, to make a sweet delight “couture” in our book. Our advice? Display accordingly! Couture Cupcakes

Couture: (adjective) being, having or suggesting the style, quality, etc., of a fashion designer; very fashionable: the couture look. With our Couture Cakes post serving as inspiration, today we have some fashionable cupcakes for your pretty eyes. A couture cupcake doesn’t necessarily have to involve a deep level of intricacy in its design, but it does have to entail that extra special touch. Sometimes all it takes is a flourish at the top, or an unexpected texture, to elevate a cupcake to a whole new fashionable level. Enjoy the eye candy below, brought to you by The Caketress, Cotton and Crumbs and more.     Photo Credits: 1 Corina V. Lovella Loves…

These vintage perfume bottle miniature cakes, by The Caketress. As she describes, “small and intimate events can have a hint (of) sweet luxury. Miniature cakes that are served and presented to each guest adds huge wow factor to any event.” Though labor intensive, the payoff is big; these little goodies sure are beautiful (and we’re sure, tasty).

Lovella Loves…

This Laduree-inspired shoot, featured here. The classic French pastry boutique is idolized in this dreamy display consisting of gilded frames and stands, porcelain plates and cups, and, of course, macarons. And we can’t forget the impeccable cake by The Caketress. Enjoy!

Architectural Cakes

ar·chi·tec·ture (noun): the profession of designing buildings… and other artificial constructions and environments, usually with some regard to aesthetic effect. (source) As if classic, traditional cakes aren’t already visually appealing, there’s a new crop of architecturally-designed cakes being rolled out at weddings. More bakers and cake artists are thinking outside the box by experimenting with proportions. Take Maggie Austin for example; some of her tiered creations are a clean line on one side, while steep step-style tiers make up the other. The Caketress also showcases cakes less ordinary, from mixed-shape cakes to confections of varying tier heights. If you’re looking for cake ideas, and whether you’re going the more traditional route or not, we think you’ll enjoy these architecturally-unique cakes.     Credits: 1 Maggie Austin Cake 2 Edda’s Cakes via *** 3 Cake Opera Co. 4 The Caketress 5 Cake Opera Co. via *** 6 Vanilla Bake Shop via Brides […]
